From the early childhood we have been tutored to believe that those wo practise religion are believers and those who don't are faith deficient. With this repetitive layering done by parents & society we end up corelating religion with belief; that the one who is religious is a believer too; that the one who doesn't practise religion as we have known is an atheist 'a non believer'; that people not concurring to a belief system laden with religious moorings can'r achieve god & their souls can't be redeemed in this life.
I think, as a humanity we have grossly faltered in nurturing such belief; I believe, that being a believer is not something which has the remotest relation with being religious, cause religion is a process may or may not lead to belief, but, belief is a process which is emancipation in itself. Actually, religion has been a process to caderise a large chunk of barbaric, uncivilised humanity so that they can be disciplined to walk the path of GOD n BELIEF.
Belief is not something which is subordinate to being religious, for being a believer one has not to be religious but receptive; receptive to GOD's ways; receptive to the little messages which sprinkles everyday; receptive enough to read, decipher and decode the messages strewn across our lives, to evolve as a human being. I feel, that is what belief is all about, to live in this world as a human (an animal) but to die as a much evolved being ; a being who is not skeptical about how life has treated him/her; but as a being who has decoded the godly ways.
GOD's ways appear undecipherable and strange, but fact is that they are very simple and basic to the core, we tend to miscue them a being complicated for the simple reason of them not being in unison with our plans. Life is a complete circle, one has to experience every aspect of life and be accomplished with all the experiences till the last breath strikes. Every incidence, every event that happens is a message from GOD; a message of such intensity, so as to propel us from narcissistic/ hedonistic thoughts to an altruistic inclusivity.
In the end, life is all about being born as an individual but breathing last as a universal being; where narrow boundaries of likes & dislikes, faiths & beliefs matter no more; where our vision is not constrained by the warps and wefts of our vainglory; where we imbibe and absorb every animate and inanimate object and end up evolving into a UNIVERSAL BEING, ' A BELIEVER'.
